Dexter the Desert Tortoise

Trisch picked up this abandoned desert tortoise from our local naturalist. Actually she begged to take care of it for a couple days. She said that it was for the kids to enjoy but many of you may or may not know that Trisch has a deep love for little reptiles. He was quickly named Dexter by the kids (Trisch) as the name Sparticus seemed inappropriate. Unfortunately due to Samantha's excitement and lack of stability on her feet Dexter had several near death experiences. After a few hours it became quite clear Dexter would not be taking up permanent residence with the family. We did manage to keep him alive and well for a few days. Trisch was the only one to shed a tear at his departure to less dangerous territory.
