The Middle Sister
Trisch and I hiked the Middle Sisters this past weekend. We went with two other couples. It was a really long hike. We packed into the base of the Middle Sister a distance of about 5 miles. We took a wrong turn and added about 2 miles to the trip. At least it was scenic with a beautiful waterfall and an open meadow with a stream in the middle. By the time we pitched our tents it was about dark. We camped that night with a great view of the mountain we were to climb the next day. We woke up to a beautiful day and perfect hiking weather. We had a little trouble following the climbers trail up the west side of the mountain. We spent most of the time hiking on a glacier. The views were fantastic of the surrounding mountains. Everyone made it to the saddle between the Middle and the North. Then in was a long scramble to the top. Barrett, Nyle and I headed up while Trisch, Jodi and Emily rested and took in the views from the saddle. The hike down was a little faster as we could see exactly where we needed to be and we were able to slide down much of the glacier. Once at the bottom we relaxed near a small lake and filled up our water bottles. We then put our packs back on and hiked the 5 miles back to the car. It was a great trip. Everyone was tired and sore but I think we were all glad for the adventure together.
